COMMUNICATION BOOSTER (B1)

B1 INTERMEDIATE SPANISH LEARNERS can understand the main points of clear, standard input on familiar matters encountered in work, school, leisure, and more. They can handle most situations likely to arise while traveling in a Spanish-speaking area and can also produce simple, connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.

COMMUNICATION BOOSTER

This is s a selection of some tried and true stories, along with their corresponding activities, that I created back in 2008 (Stories 1-10). I have recently started to add new stories too!

While crazy and sometimes even bordering on the ridiculous, these are actual evergreen stories that have appeared in the news! I have used them with my private students for years to develop vocabulary and conversational skills, and the results have always been nothing short of amazing. That’s why I’m sharing them with you.

This is the original concept on which most of my work is based!

NOTI-DIÁLOGOS (1)

¿QUÉ SON LOS NOTI-DIÁLOGOS?

The crazy stories on our website are a terrific tool for learning descriptive conversational vocabulary and improving listening skills.

These NOTI-DIÁLOGOS for intermediate Spanish learners (B1) are short dialogues that build on the vocabulary from the previous section and portray realistic conversations.

While short in nature, they can be challenging for learners due the fast pace of interactions, which usually throws foreign language learners off. Not anymore—these dialogues and their corresponding activities will train you for the real thing.

MINI-DIALOGUES

MINI-DIÁLOGOS B1+

Following the same logic as the NOTI-DIÁLOGOS for B1 students, these dialogues feature more elaborate and somewhat complex topics while retaining their essence: real vocabulary, realistic conversations, and an authentic pace of speech.

In other words, these dialogues bridge the gap between B1 and B2 learners. And as always, we don’t simplify the language you’re exposed to—we train you to engage with it and understand it.

SPANISH TEXTS (1)

TEXTOS EN ESPAÑOL

I have designed these activities with three kinds of intermediate learners  in mind:

a. The struggling learner who, despite working really hard, cannot understand what is being said, and/or…

b. The busy / tired person who can’t afford to spend too much time on full-fledged listening exercises.

c. The listening enthusiast who enjoys spending time on listening exercises.

For the first two types of learners, please watch the video carefully and follow all the steps outlined. This is a quick and reliable way to acquire a lot of vocabulary while developing your listening skills with moderate effort.

For those in the third category, who can devote more time and effort to the activities, the benefits will be even greater. Just remember this key principle: never read the text until you have understood at least 90% of the story by listening.
